Orthopedic Massage, also referred to as Clinical massage, is a scientifically based type of manual therapy for orthopedic conditions. This approach focuses on promoting the alignment of soft tissue relating to pain and dysfunction. Treatments include traditional orthopedic assessment, including range of motion, passive and isometric testing to determine the severity of a condition, injury or limitation causing pain following surgery. Treatment protocol differs for acute and chronic injuries and the rationale for choosing an appropriate technique for each stage of healing.

My approach includes orthopedic assessment with manual therapy techniques and a corrective exercise protocol to reclaim and maintain lost range of motion and restore unrestricted, pain free movement. Treatments focus on correcting muscle and articular imbalances, postural and gait issues, reducing complex pain patterns and recovering from acute or chronic pain.

This is achieved through realigning dysfunctional scar tissue, reducing nerve impingement, vascular and lymph restrictions, muscle and fascial adhesions, as well as tendon and ligament inflammation (tendonitis, strains and sprains).

My goal is to facilitate the healing process by restoring health and function to the soft tissues of the body (tendons, ligaments, fascia, connective tissue, lymphatic & circulatory system), as well as reducing stress, anxiety and improving overall wellbeing.

Phases of the healing process:  inflammation, Rebuild and Repair, Remodeling and Strength training.

* The first session will consist of:  Full initial assessment, patient history, treatment and self care recommendations. Please wear comfortable clothing or exercise attire for Orthopedic sessions.

Corrective Exercise Coaching

60 minutes: $80
90 minutes: $120

Many people with common joint and soft tissue imbalances can benefit from the use of Corrective Exercise. Utilizing the Biomechanics Method, we will begin with musculoskeletal assessments and creating a treatment plan. The routine will include self-myofascial release (self massage), followed by combining passive, active and dynamic stretching, and then implementing strengthening and activation exercises to help restore and maintain our ability to enjoy activities of daily living.

Many musculoskeletal imbalances are not caused by an injury. They are often a result other factors, such as movement dysfunction, activity choices, prolonged static posture, overuse, footwear choices, surgeries and sedentary lifestyle habits.

A regular Corrective Exercise Routine can support the healing of injuries as well as many types of pain patterns, and will allow short and tense muscles to release, while assisting in the activation of overstretched, weak or inhibited muscle tissue. This will help in the reduction of chronic pain and inflammation (arthritis, tendonitis, etc) and restore and maintain pain free joint and soft tissue function.

Therapeutic / Myofascial Release

60 minutes: $90
90 minutes: $140
120 minutes: $180
30 minutes: $50

Therapeutic / Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy used to treat injuries and discomfort, reducing pain and increasing range of motion. This form of rebalancing differs from other types of massage in that it targets the fascia - the membrane surrounding muscles - rather than the muscle itself.

Fascia is a connective tissue that covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Since fascia completely encases every muscle in the body, imbalances in the fascia can have serious effects on your range of motion and comfort level.

This type of therapy is done by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones.  Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work. Indirect release applies lighter pressure and gently stretches the fascia, allowing for increased blood circulation and relief from pain.

While other forms of massage can overlook the fascia, myofascial massage focuses specifically on releasing tension in this important membrane.

Clinical Cupping

As needed minutes: Add $20 to any treatment

Cupping is a form of myofascial therapy utilizing suction which creates negative pressure on the soft tissue. Cups are placed on the body in areas of tension or discomfort, and used to decompress the layers of skin, fascia, connective tissue, muscle, vascular structures and nerves. Cupping can be performed either stationary or dynamic, with movement.

Types of cups used:

Medical Grade Silicone (soft) cups - utilizing stationary and movement based techniques.

Polycarbonate Plastic (hard) cups - utilizing an air pressure vacuum applied technique

Cups are typically left on the area for 2-3 minutes, with a maximum of 10-15 mins.

Cupping with movement (dynamic cupping) uses oil and less suction to allow for more glide. It provides myofascial release and a soft stretch of the skin, fascia, muscle & connective tissue.
Cups come in a variety of sizes and can be applied to different areas of the body, including the joints, back, arms, legs, hands, feet, head, neck and face.

Even though cupping therapy carries a low risk of complications, it’s not for everyone. Talk to your healthcare provider before trying cupping.

Benefits associated with cupping therapy:

  • Reduces pain and inflammation
  • Reduces sinus congestion & headaches
  • Decreases muscle tightness
  • Improves circulation
  • Improves lymphatic function
  • Increases range of motion
  • boosts the immune system
  • Stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest response)

Relaxation / Swedish Massage

60 minutes: $80
90 minutes: $120
30 minutes: $50

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation and direct blood back toward the heart. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

Deep Tissue Massage

30 minutes: $50
60 minutes: $90
90 minutes: $140

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that you should drink plenty of water to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissues of the body during the session.

60 minutes: $90
90 minutes: $140
120 minutes: $180

Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage where heated stones are placed at specific sites on your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated and massaged with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. I will use a combination of hot stone & relaxation massage techniques during this session. The overall experience is very nurturing, and rejuvenating.
